Taylor Zeeg

Taylor draws on his interdisciplinary background in economics, management consulting and urban and regional planning to help people make informed resource decisions. A major focus of Taylor’s practice is conducting neighbourhood energy utility (NEU) investment analyses for municipal and private sector clients and navigating project implementation. This typically involves economic and financial analysis; consideration of non-monetary aspects; trade-off evaluations; facilitating interactions among municipal staff, elected officials and the private sector; and managing a diverse team of technical and economic experts.

Taylor also actively works in the area of decision analysis and climate change adaptation planning, recently completing projects in the Canadian Arctic and for UN Habitat. Taylor holds a Master’s of Planning from University of British Columbia with additional studies in energy economics at Simon Fraser University.

What is the best thing a client has ever said to you?

“That is the best Executive Summary I’ve ever read” (with a nod to my colleagueTrent for co-authoring).

Describe what you do in five words or less.

Help people make informed decisions.

Why do you do what you do?

To help create the conditions for others’ success is deeply gratifying.

What was your first job?

Entrepreneur. Seriously. I had a thriving lawn-cutting business, 2 paper routes and sold used golf balls and cold soda at the nearby golf course. I have an odd knack for unearthing profitable opportunities. It's been fun applying that to energy and resource questions in order to achieve broader societal benefits.

What truly blows your mind?

The merits of practice.
